Suddenly I'm seeing talk about migration from LJ to DW (or other platforms) again. I bailed from LJ not long after the Russians took over, and don't know a lot about what happened to it since then. I've been quite happy with DW but then, I don't insist on a constantly shifting platform that wants to be "cutting edge" all the time even if that means undercutting its own long term users. I have accounts elsewhere (Blogspot, Tumblr, FA, Furry Network, and so forth) but don't really use them or care for the sites. Mostly I keep them to avoid being impersonated by someone else. I do use Twitter with some regularity, but don't consider it to be as effective for real communication.

Anyway, for those who are choosing to leave LJ now and come over to DW, welcome. Dreamwidth has a number of things in its favor. They promised not to try the kinds of wholesale censorship that SixApart fell down on. They promised not to shove advertising in your face. In my experience and exposure (which may not be complete, admittedly) they have kept those promises. I consider that a huge point in their favor. I am happy to pay the annual charge for a paid account, and I encourage any of you who can afford to do so to follow my example. DW staff are helpful and unobtrusive, and the site has very few technical difficulties (unlike some of the dedicated furry sites that I won't single out by name.)

I generally follow back most who choose to follow me, and my DW journal is public, not locked or private. I look forward to reacquainting myself with old friends and perhaps meeting new ones.

The most recent shenanigans at LJ were moving the servers to Russia just after last Christmas, which is when I left (I spent my New Year's Eve moving everything here and deleting everything there), and then last week when they changed the terms of service to comply with Russian law, which introduced a lot of things that people were upset about, not all of which we even know about because the Russian version of the TOS is the legally binding version. After last week's events, I've started making an effort to be present more on DW - I like it here better than FB, so it makes sense that I should spend more time here than at FB, I just hadn't been.

I think I remember reading that after 6 months without logging in they'll delete your account.

With all the noise over that TOS I decided to post something blatant on LJ (carried over here when I imported to my dormant account here)

I've said this in other replies, too, and that is that I can't actually recall what any TOS specifically said: FA, DA, Tumblr, Flickr, FaceBook, Twitter, and even here. I skimmed and followed the herd and agreed on these sites.

It's good to see you again! I probably should have made this move a long time ago, but am looking forward to catching up with long-lost friends once more.

Well, nothing wrong with some gray. It's the mane loss I'd worry about. ;)

Oh, hello again. I am still alive. Surprised? :p
It has been a while.
Anyway, I noticed LJ is pretty much of a ghost town.
And no, they haven't deleted my account, even after what, at least 5 years of no updates. :D

I got to admit I really fell off the wagon at one point and I am still a bit lost as in "where the hay did everyone go?".
But I guess I had my reasons. Things went downhill pretty quickly from 2006 onward, and no signs of getting much better.

I'll be spending the next week and the week after that in hospital because of yet another bowel surgery. It seems my body can't keep up with me and bits of it are breaking apart.
Anyway, thought I'd say hi.

I definitely hope so too. I feel detaching myself from the "Schrödinger's Relationship" has reduced my stress levels a lot.

I don't use Twitter, but I am occasionally on Google+, and I spend a lot of time on Steam, IRC and Discord.
