There was a flock of Juncos (I believe) in the woods at the edge of the lawn yesterday, in the late afternoon. Chickadees watched from their cedar cover as I shoveled snow this morning.

The only time I saw the amounts of waterfowl you describe was over a preserve next to a highway on the way to Geneva, New York. Magnificent!
