I like the idea of supporting small businesses instead of the monster chains that promote this moronic madness thing. It's getting so you have to really hunt to even find the small businesses though.

It's gotten to where every year I cheer and celebrate when the reports come in saying that holiday sales are down from the expected levels and store execs are moaning and groaning about losses. Serves them bloody right for turning Christmas into a blood sport.
