I've never gotten a dirty connotation off 'paff' ... I think of it as kind of a soft bounce, like a soft, blunt leather end coming down on a hard floor.

Of course I knew what 'Tivo meant, but onomatopoeia tends to strike me that way. Never, ever, EVER say "fwap" to me. :)
