Wah!

This spoiled pony isn't used to coming home to an empty house. Yeah, I know, the dogs are looking at me and thinking "What empty?" Still. I was worried that I was late due to a network problem at work, and completely taken aback by the absence of Gary's car when I reached the house. Then I remembered. He's back in school and has a class on Monday night. There were lights on and he'd built the fire up before leaving so it was pleasantly warm, but empty when I didn't particularly feel like being alone.

He just called a few minutes ago during his class break to ask if I'd listened to his message on the answering machine. Um, no. I never think to look at the thing. Telephones just aren't on my interest list and never have been. So anyway, the message apparently was that he'd called for the sheep doc, who didn't arrive before he left for class so he called back and asked them to reschedule for tomorrow. Apparently no change in Shaun's condition. Good thing he called though. Then I tried to listen to the message and it's unintelligible. The combination of his digital cell phone and a cheap digital answering machine means that about 60% of each of his words gets lost.

So it's dark and cold and I'm here alone until bedtime at least. The dogs lost interest once they got fed. I don't feel like weaving so I guess I get to read for a while and go to sleep.

You have a way to get here by teleportation? ;D

Yeah, it would be nice if you were close enough. We could think of all sorts of mischief to get into I'm sure. Steam punk entertainment!

Yeah, I know. Loneliness hits hard sometimes. I hate being completely alone too. But sometimes I do enjoy some time for myself.
I could use some company right now, tho. Beam me up!

Although I need to do some things this week, not all of which pleasant so I could only stay for a few hours... :/

I don't like phones either, awww lonely pony. But I know how you feel, for awhile I was living here on my own and it started to really get to me after awhile.

I've lived by myself for perhaps a third of my life. It has some advantages but no, I don't really recommend it.

If I was cruel I'd say something like;

"Welcome to my world!"

And cackle.

But I have to think that leaving a fire going, even if you've
got a good fireplace, is kinda nuts.

Fire left untended = NO!

So okay, thats me, but I'll get some soup on the stove
going and poke that fire *pokes it with vengence* and
ask if those blankets you made are really usefully warm.

*curls up on the big chair by the fire, nothing funny*

It's not an open fireplace. We have a cast iron box stove from Vermont. As long as you shut the door (which is the most efficient way to use it anyway) the risk of fire would lie only with a chimney failure. We inspect and clean the chimney every season. I'd love to be able to cook on an old kitchen woodstove the way my grandmothers did, though I'd still want to have a modern range as well.

Blankets warmed by the stove are really nice, by the way. :)
