Fennec and Hammel meet for the first time

For those who remember my 2007 NaNo novel, which appeared with the working title The Argosiad, here is an excerpt chapter from this year's book. The story is a mystery with a double timeline, in which current events seem to mimic a series of murders 120 years earlier. At this time, Fennec and Hammel are both students in Chatton, and in this chapter we see their first meeting. They were assigned a joint project in a public administration class.

Lots more is happening. That chapter is from near the beginning. I usually write straight through from beginning to end, but this plotline just wasn't working that way so I'm doing pieces as they congeal. Rather than put them all up out of order, I'm dropping a couple of "teasers" for now. Once it's all there, I will put it on FurRag. (Not on FA, because long works are a failure there.)

Yeah, you really want the whole story in sequence, not scrambled the way I'm writing it. Thanks for checking it out, though.
