Umm. Review and Resolution?
Jan. 1st, 2005 07:39 pmWell, 2004 came in like a lion and went out like a lamb. Not with lambs. Though we do have a ewe that we think is due, she hasn't plopped any out yet.
Back in January/February I thought I had lost a precious on-line friend when his RL conflicted with his virtual. No way to argue with that. So I moped about for a couple of weeks and then went looking for new RP and chat friends. Gosh, I don't remember ever feeling so popular in my life. Some folks actually seem to like me. What a rise in spirits that was, especially just in time for spring.
Finances were blah all year, but at least no disasters. Politics were extremely depressing. Trying to train a headstrong and stubborn yearling filly was difficult too, though at last she seems to be showing some improvement. By early summer my friend was back, having settled some of his RL issues and finding me greatly relieved to know we were still close friends.
Summer went by too fast. Partner was very busy with family issues that culminated in the passing of his godmother. I tried to hold down the home fort for him while he dealt with all that. Some stuff didn't get done at all this year, like the vegetable garden. But the bees did better than the previous year. He may now be breaking even by selling honey, which is all we ask.
Autumn came and went in a brief flash of color, not enough apples (never enough apples) and the usual getting ready for winter stuff, like stacking a million bales of hay. Then the unusual (for me) resolution to go to MFF, which I did, and enjoyed so much that I'm now designing a fursuit. Gack.
The holidays are fairly quiet when you have almost no family left, so I was pretty much able to wind down along with the year. Waited for a White Christmas but the snow storms went on either side of us, leaving us high and dry. Then New Year's Eve was 50 degrees F. Utterly weird. But it caught up with us in 2005, we have freezing rain now, with sleet or hail and thunderstorms predicted for later tonight. I'm gonna sit by the woodstove and knit with wool from our own sheep.
Blessings on all, especially those caught by that awful tsunami thing. May 2005 be much, much better.
I can think of several things I should resolve, but being lazy I thought I'd follow a bad example and let someone else pick a resolution for me...
Oh, right!
