Busy-busy again

Weather was odd. Sudden lightning bolt about 2:30 this morning took the power out for a few seconds, and brought both dogs into our bed. A bit overly cozy. Turns out Harvard didn't fare as well, for whatever reason. Power was out in the southern part of town at least most of the morning, perhaps longer. This affected both grocery stores that remain in town, as well as a number of other retail establishments. Apparently it also took some cell phone towers offline, as people were saying that their cell phones weren't working. (I actually checked, but mine was working as usual.)
The in mid-afternoon, a major deluge came through. I think it must have been almost an inch of rain in 15 minutes or so. The sun came out right after. Turns out it was a line of severe thunderstorms, and the weather service issued a warning AFTER the fact. This seems to happen pretty often. They don't bother to warn us, even though it has been visible on the radar for several counties prior to us, but right after we get it, they issue warnings to the eastern part of the county (more densely populated, including several very wealthy areas) and the shores of Lake Michigan to the east.
There was no more rain after that, in spite of various watches and warnings.
