Third day of 90+ heat in a row. But maybe it broke this evening around 6 or so. Things looked very threatening around 4:30 with black clouds and little wind, steamy humidity and all. I fully expected a tornado watch, but nothing came. There was a severe thunderstorm watch, though. Then about 5:30 it started to clear up. The sun came out, the sky cleared and the temperature dropped 10 degrees. Much more comfortable. You could see the distinct line in the sky as the front or whatever it was drifted off to the east.

Busy weekend ahead. Gary has a Civil War recreation thing on Saturday, and his Bear Creek partner Rob will be coming to stay with us Friday night. They'll be gone all day Saturday, so I have both barn chores and grocery shopping to get done, as well as making dinner for when they return.

Sunday we all go to a historic farm up near McHenry for another public event. They'll be doing 19th century music, and I'll be demonstrating spinning. Some of you will remember this one from last year, the place where people asked questions like "Did you have to kill the sheep to get that wool?"

Latest on DTV reception: This evening I got lucky and three different stations came in pretty clearly, including my preferred news and weather source, WGN from Chicago. I'll now leave all the settings alone and see how well they hold up over the next few days. If it keeps working as well as it did during the news tonight, it will do.

You did send your rain here...take it back I want to work outside :P

I hope you will be spared the braindead questions at the demo, although if they're from little kids that's not so bad...its when it's coming from some supercillious twenty something.

No, the little kid questions are OK, whatever they ask. How could they know yet? The really stupid questions, unfortunately, often come from people who really should know better, many of them near my own age.
