Fursuit progress: 'Tivo the Plush Pony

Aside from NaNoWriMo, here is the major diversion of the past few weeks. Headpiece nearly finished, needs some detailing around eyes and nostrils. I thought leaving the mouth and nostrils open would help with cooling, but alas, it doesn't help a whole lot. Now I understand why some folks put actual cooling fans in these things. Progress on everything came to an abrupt halt at about 9 pm last night, when a thunderstorm took out our electricity for four hours or so.

Fursuit progress 12 Nov 2005 Almost finished headpiece. I started with a baseball cap, built a skull structure of plastic embroidery canvas over it, added fiberfill for softer flesh areas, and then covered it with plush skin. Linen cord and wire help hold the shape, hot glue and stitching for final assembly. Mane hair is kanekalon, synthetic human wig hair.

Missed writing yesterday because the power failed right when I was about to sit down and do it. But I made up the difference today and am right on target. Need to get ahead though, because I'm sure MFF will keep me away from the keyboard for at least a couple of days. Two new chapters, posted in the usual place. Have a look around the FurRag site, too. There are other authors there and some great stories to read.

While I was pounding away on the keyboard, my mate was making the most wonderful fragrant soup from the end of our vegetable garden. Hard freeze coming this week for sure, and by that I mean the kind that freezes even large vegetables like beets and turnips solid. So tonight we had a curried soup made of acorn squash, onions, several kinds of beans, and Swiss chard. Tossed green salad made of multiple colors and flavors of lettuce. Home baked bread with Italian herbs in it. We both ate too much. And there are leftovers. Yay for leftovers.
