And so to bed...
Jan. 25th, 2009 08:14 pmTo quote the eminent English lexicographer. It has been a busy weekend. (For anyone wondering, no, there has not been a gas explosion in the compost heap (yet) nor has any scavenger been digging there.)
Tomorrow is a long school day for Gary, something I don't envy him. Especially so since it involves a lot of driving, as two morning classes are in Dekalb while the evening class is in Crystal Lake. Breakfast at 6 am tomorrow. We'll get used to it. Back when I commuted to Chicago, breakfast was at 5 am on weekdays, so I can't complain.
Still cold, though warming slightly tomorrow I guess. We've started on the third face cord of firewood. In a typical winter we only use two, but we went through two plus a partial one leftover from last year all by January 18. I've been having trouble staying awake all day anyway, might as well give in. It's tempting to think of sleeping near the woodstove, but our waterbed is heated and has three quilts on it, so it still wins out.
Vet bill is due for the horses (I pay for a year's vaccinations and checkups in advance to get a discount) and I've got to find that money somewhere. It runs about $450 for each horse. Shaun's final bill hasn't come in yet either. I'm sure I'll see soon enough how much that one is.
Too cold to do much other than essential chores, so I got knitting done today. One long delayed project finished at last, and another well on its way to a conclusion. At this rate, I may get back to a sweater I started for myself in 2001. I wonder if it will still fit?
