altivo: Geekish ham radio pony (radio)
Summer Reading Club, that is. This year's theme is "Read on the Wild Side" which means we are featuring all sorts of animal stuff and some very cute graphics. A petting zoo will come to the library, as well as a snake exhibit. We are having worm races (no, I don't know how it works and I don't want to know) and a lot of crafts and that sort of stuff. There will be a star party with astronomers and telescopes (hey, outer space is wild too) and we will all be very tired of it in five weeks' time. Volunteers were recruited this year to help with some of the load, which is great.

What looked like a decent week on the forecast yesterday is now changed to "thunderstorms" every day and night through Friday. Today was nice but may be the last we'll see until at least Saturday.

Farrier John comes tomorrow morning for the boys, and will check up on Tess. She's looking much better now, and I think he'll probably trim a little more and smooth the edges but that's all.

We had stir fry for supper, made with the first of the snow peas and the last of the asparagus. Nummy, that was.

Oh, and Gary's GPS that I got him two and a half years ago seems to have died. He bought an extended service contract on top of what I paid, and called them today. Yes, the contract is still good. No, they don't make that model any more. Result: They will replace his present vehicle only unit with a smaller, more up to date one that also takes topo maps and can be used for hiking. Sounds like a win to me, even if what they send is a refurbished one.
