Jun. 30th, 2010 09:34 pmStill no rain. It's definitely miraculous. Cut hay is lying in fields everywhere, with no rain predicted until next week. Like last year, I expect this first cut to be stemmy and tough. Wheat is ready for harvest too, and they should be getting that any day now.
Work not as interesting. I let the userful support people know that I am once again displeased with them and received the expected phone call from their manager. Amusingly, the manager who was still there in April and promised to handle my cases herself is gone. Her replacement can talk a party line well enough but obviously lacks the level of technical awareness I'd expect in that kind of job for this kind of company. I predict she won't last long. She admitted that they are still working in a Fedora 8 environment with their development (that's 3 or 4 years out of date) and that the reason is that they made modifications to the kernel (always a dumb move) and now have major issues porting those changes forward. As long as they lag behind in 2007 like that, they'll never be able to pick up the features of newer kernels.
