Was hotter and stickier. The dubious climate controls in the library were dubious as usual. Anything that depends on Windows ME for functionality is a guaranteed failure, I think. The repair of our home system is delayed until at least Thursday, the earliest I could get someone to come out. We are hauling fans out of the barn and dusting them off. They help a little. I'll be shutting this computer down in just a few minutes to reduce the heat production.
The temperature outside has dropped a bit since the sun got near the horizon, but there's no air stirring so it doesn't help much.
The cheap NICs off eBay did solve my installation problems with Userful. Inexcusable failure on their part, but at least I got past it for $15.90 and a lot of heartburn. Those two machines went out for public use today. The two I pulled in will be repurposed, starting with wiping the drives since we can't run Userful software on anything beyond the 15 stations it is licensed for. One will become a logging and monitoring station for the firewall appliance, I think. The other will probably go to the Reference Desk, since the machine out there is really old. I may put Linux on it just to see who will notice.
Off to rearrange fans and make sure we can put one into the bedroom...
