Holidays are too stressful
Dec. 16th, 2010 10:34 pmOnline shopping part done. My remaining family are scattered so far that we don't see each other at this time of year. I do have a couple of things to mail, but generally have things wrapped and shipped.
Oddly, though it is warmer today, I've felt colder. Freezing both at work this morning and here at home. No I don't have a fever.
Good dog was bad again. Gary crated him before leaving to go to his mom's this morning. I let him out when I got home at 1 pm. Had lunch, went out to do barn chores, did not crate him again. Wrong move. He knocked the ceramic cookie jar (one we've had for something like 20 years) to the floor, breaking it. Then he and Simon ate all the cookies. Jeez, you'd think they'd be sick. Cheap sandwich cookies from the store, not good home made ones. What worries me is how much broken ceramic did they ingest with those? Anyway, done is done. I scolded and gave him a timeout in the crate while I cleaned up thoroughly. Thank goddess he didn't break the teapot, I needed that to get warm again after working outside.
Leftovers for dinner. We have lots of leftovers from all the microwave cooking I've done over the past week.
Figured out how to make the Zipit connect to a WPA controlled wireless router from the command line. I think I've got all the pieces together for dealing with "captive portals" now using this limited device. Their native software can't deal with those. Have to go to Starbucks or Angelo's to see whether I've finally figured it out.
Received e-mail birthday greetings from college friend and former library colleague. Haven't heard from them in a while, good to reconnect.
Watched Toy Story 3 this evening with Gary. It was OK, had a few choice moments. We agreed we like the second film better though.
Tomorrow, work again. Saturday, bird count. Sunday, frantic last minute shopping. Then two four day weeks, yay.
Oh, and the waether service screwed up badly again. Yesterday they were warning of 3 to 6 inches of snow overnight. Didn't happen. This morning they said flurries, ending by noon. Didn't happen. At two this afternoon they were still running the morning forecast saying no more snow. It was snowing. We got about a half inch while they were still saying no more snow. C'mon you blinking idiots, look out your damned window.
