There should be weeks with two Sundays more often. Of course, this one wouldn't have been so relaxed had Gary not developed a nasty cold, so it's not all that good from his point of view. But because he isn't up to visiting, we went nowhere. I did chores so he could nap, and we had a mostly lazy day. I did a little cooking but we have three days' worth of leftovers now so it was more cooking to avoid other chores (like laundry) than cooking because I had to. Anyway, neither thing I made was all that strenuous. One was just plain old potato salad. The other was a rhubarb streusel cake, because we have lots of rhubarb at the moment and I was too lazy to make a pie. (I made pie yesterday from leftover chicken.) Here's the cake, as yet unsampled:

It rose nicely and smells good, so I'm sure it will be edible at least.
We noticed Asher coughing this morning, so tomorrow he starts on his summer regimen (all hay gets dipped in water first.) He doesn't seem to mind and it really helps. We have some pills we can give him too, and I'll probably put him on a low dosage for a couple of days to nip it in the bud and avoid the full-scale heaves that he had a few years back. I think this morning's high humidity and high temperature was part of the problem. We only got to about 84F, which was cooler than the predicted 91F and much cooler than the reported 96F in Chicago. The humidity at dawn was stifling, but as the day progressed things dried out significantly.
Sunset is turning the sky lavender colored, so I'll try again to photograph it. I think I know what I did wrong yesterday. Perhaps pretty pictures tomorrow, eh?
