altivo: 'Tivo as a plush toy (Miktar's plushie)
We had a noisy thunderstorm that passed through around 4 pm, followed by some rain. It rained hard this morning early, as well, but the total accumulation for both was probably less than half an inch. Tess was miffed at not getting to go out, but it was raining at both the ideal times and I won't put her out at mid-day this time of year because it is just too hot and suffocating.

Finished the guild newsletter and posted it, including submission forms for a local exhibit we are doing in September. Still no A/C so we brought in an oscillating fan from the barn loft and set it up in the bedroom. That should help with sleeping tonight. Outdoor temps are supposed to drop into the sixties, but with no breeze that will not penetrate the house until dawn I suspect.

I had thought we'd grill fish or brats tonight, but the rain convinced me to cook indoors in spite of the lack of cooling. We had spaghetti with marinara sauce, garlic bread, and tossed salad. All were good.

Our sole remaining duck is back out in the "new improved" duck house and yard that Gary made. We believe the fence is fox and raccoon proof, so we aren't locking him into his house at night. That should tell us soon enough. ;p (Though he goes into the house when it's dark anyway. He has done that all his life, so why change now?)

Speaking of the fox, we haven't seen either of them for a while now. Nor are we finding scat the way we were a month ago. I suspect they have moved on, probably because the neighbors' chicken populations ran out. I'm hearing only katydids and treefrogs at night, no fox yerfs.
