Came home to find a stack of boxes waiting in the garage. Most of the gifts I had ordered have arrived. Amazon is particularly good at making it look like a huge tower of stuff. You order five books and CDs from them and each one is likely to come in a separate package. It's hard to believe that they can afford to do that and especially so when it was on their "free" shipping policy.

New rubber Davis booties for my mare's front hooves came too. They look sturdy enough and hopefully easy enough to put on. She is OK with having her feet messed with as long as you don't take too long about it. So now we clean her front feet, apply the Hawthorne sole packs, which are sort of like putty, and put the boots on to keep the goop in place. It's supposed to moisturize the hoof, something I've been having trouble doing. Both vet and farrier recommended this, and it's not horribly expensive, so we'll try. She's my special pet, more than the dogs or the other horses. I'd have her in the house if I could get away with it, though I doubt she'd be interested.

I think there's one more box from Amazon to come, and another special one for Gary that is coming to the library so he won't see it before Christmas (just in case it gets sent in a box that tells what the contents are.) We have one box to wrap and send out ourselves. Otherwise, my remaining family were taken care of with direct shipments of gifts, mostly edibles. His will receive their gifts in person since they all live right in the Chicago area. A few of my friends are getting things that will be late because I'm making them myself and had to take care of family stuff first.

I really hate shopping during the holiday season, even though I rather enjoy it at other times, so it's a relief to have this all done with. Now there's just food stuff to do, I hope.
