I guess parts of Wisconsin got as much as four inches of rain in the last 24 hours. We had more like two, including thunder and lightning to set it all off. Some of the lightning bolts were so large and so near to the library that you could hear the zzzzap at the same time as the light flash, even though the thunderclap came a second or two later. Lights would flicker, but not enough to crash any computers, fortunately. It rained here all last night, and all day today. Incredibly dark and gloomy. If that rain had been snow, I figure we'd have about ten inches or more. Instead we have flooding in some road areas.
The so-called retention pond that was created in the stupid subdivision they are building north of us was supposed to capture the runoff from this sort of rain but of course it is overflowing now. If there were a house standing in the spot marked on their plat map it would be surrounded by water. There were geese swimming there yesterday and today. ;p
Except for groceries and one item, shopping is done thank goodness. There's still baking to do and cards to write.
Good news at work: It sounds more and more as if we may actually have enough libraries to form a new consortium and walk out on this huge mess that the state created. A decision must be made quickly, as present contracts require a six month notice of termination before the end of a fiscal year. That means notice is due in January. Gods I'm anxious to see that notice delivered, it is well-deserved now.
