I am, apparently, "Kinda Dorky" (93,78,48,62,59), so maybe I should go refine my answers a bit. ;)

A repeat run (at home this time, which affects the "lay your hands on $item inside 15 seconds" bit significantly) produced 97,81,71,62,18, which seems to rate as "Cool".

You lowered your "dumb-dork-awkward" score just by going home? Wow, that's impressive. XD

I've no idea what lowered the dumb-dork score, but going home certainly bumped all the others up a bit. :)

Not bad at all. You just need practice on the dumb-dork part. ;p

Even more so than I thought!

NerdTests.com says I'm a Dorky Nerd King. What are you? Click here!

It's a little odd as I'm not really dumb or awkward, but dorky? Absolutely. (A couple of these may be off because I fudged slightly on the "lay your hands on in 15 seconds" section, though I do work with nerds so some of the objects are in nearby cubes.)

Heh... I might have to rush through my building, but I know one of the chemists in the lab at my work has a graphing calculator. The test didn't say it had to be mine :)

And I have a Digimon stuffy, which I counted as a Pokemon figure :)

I think both those questions were worded wrong. The question should be, "Can you lay hands on a slide rule/graphic calculator and show that you know how to use it?"

I still pass for the slide rule. Calculators that use RPN and do graphics though... no thanks.

I'm afraid I don't pass on the slide rule, but I do on the graphing calculator - though it might take me a little bit to remember how as it has been many years since I used one.

I like the added detail you suggest. Another example would be to add to the Pokemon figure: "...and do you know its name, history, and/or powers?" :)

Of course, the number of possible questions to ask that way is nigh infinite, so perhaps it is best left alone ;)

At some point in there we'd be measuring geekishness rather than nerdocity. I think. But what do I know? I flunked the pokemon question entirely.

Heh... and that's just one possible sub-flavor of nerd/geek.

I think equally viable would have been "Can you name at least 3 Pokemon?" with the follow-up question (worth more) "...and their powers?" and to dig deeper (very geeky) "...and their evolved forms [or] weakness?"

...but that's getting pretty specific for a theoretically general nerd/geek test, even though Pokemon is relatively well known.

It's been fun chatting with you :) Back to work for me!

*checks* Currently it's 12°C. Be careful, winter is coming here. ;p

That trough has a heater in it to keep it from freezing over, though, so it never gets below 5°C.
