Storm warnings
Mar. 20th, 2008 09:38 pmWetherby and his mom are back in with the rest of the flock now. He's finally found his voice, too. Every time he can't see mom, which is a lot of the time, he starts bleating and racing around looking for her. She tends to ignore this, and he seems to have some trouble identifying her among eight sheep, though she's the only one that is gray with black legs and face. All the others are either black all over or white all over. ;p His big brothers are pretty intolerant of his attempts to nurse from them, and they push him away.
His sister, who is just a year older, was afraid of him at first, and would run away from him. We haven't seen that before, and it will be interesting to see what becomes of it. He's grown quite a bit in the last couple of weeks, so he's probably twice as big as when he was born, but he's still quite small compared to the other sheep.
Yesterday's winter storm watch is now a full-fledged winter storm warning. The most exaggerated forecasters are saying we'll get ten inches of new snow before midnight tomorrow night. That seems a little dubious to me, but looking at the radars I wouldn't be surprised if we got three or four. It has been quite warm today, up to almost 50F, but now it's back down around freezing and should stay there until Saturday. Snow is supposed to begin after midnight and continue through the day tomorrow. Not much of a problem for us, but I imagine people who planned to travel this weekend are not pleased. I had intended to plant lettuce seeds and spinach in the hot frame this weekend, but that will probably be the only thing that gets seriously disrupted if it really does snow as predicted.
