altivo: Running Clydesdale (running clyde)
[personal profile] altivo
We finally got around to unloading that wagon full of hay that has been sitting in the barn for a week. Since we did it at the end of a full work day, I'm really done in. Tess will be disappointed. She figured out in the interim how and where to reach through the rails of her day pen and pull mouthfuls of hay out of the wagon. She would drop quite a bit of it, probably more than she actually ate, so we kept finding a little haystack lying between the wagon and the fence. When I got the hay unloaded down to that point, I found two bales that had been seriously "nibbled," one so much so that it just fell apart leaving the empty twine in my hands.

That's the end of first cutting. We still need another 300 bales to make it to next June, but they'll have to be from second cutting, and probably at least a bit more expensive.

Had to chase fish around the tank too, since I've promised to give part of my surplus of baby platyfish to our aquarium specialist who comes to the library once every two weeks. He's due tomorrow. I managed to catch about 16 of the little guys, still leaving me with at least 8 or 10 in the tank. Also snagged one tiny guppy, but I wasn't going to chase them all around the shipping bucket to try to catch one pinhead sized guppy. Think I'll ask him to trade me for a catfish or two, the Corydoras kind.
