Assembling bits and pieces. The furs I selected have been here waiting for a while. I finally got around to ordering teeth and eyes last week, and they arrived on Tuesday.

These will be Argos' teeth and eyes. Unless I find some better eyes first, anyway. The rubber tongue came with the jaws but I don't plan to use that. Time to get started on the head and paws. The body and tail I'm not so worried about, I know I can manage those easily enough.

That's quite a set of jaws there! I'd offer to make you a pair of glass eyes, but time really isn't on my side these days.

Yup. Van Dyke's is not as high a quality as some of the more professional places, but the prices are more reasonable and the shipping is very low, or at least was for my order. This was the "medium" wolf jaw set for about $18. It's just injection molded plastic, but I'm sure it will look fine and it's not as heavy as some of the more realistic ones. You'll probably want to get a wolf set rather than fox. The dentition is so similar no one will notice, and real foxen have such small narrow muzzles they would look out of proportion on us.

Anyway, who am I to advise? Loriana did such a fine job on her cross fox last year that I'm sure she knows what you need. ;p

I'm sure you could make really nice eyes. These will do, though the pupils aren't really right. I need blue eyes, and of course real wolves don't have blue eyes so the suppliers don't offer them. These are intended for a carousel horse instead.

Somewhere I have seen a supplier who had glass dog eyes for speciment mounts, and they did offer blue (called "husky" eyes.) I just need to hunt around and find that place again and see if they come in a large enough size.

I decided not to use a plastic nose leather. Since Argos is slightly cartoony anyway, I'm going to try fashioning his nose from a scrap of black leather, calling on my past experience with teddy bear making. I may regret it, but then I can always swap noses later if I don't like it.

hehe, this is reminding me of the time rayvenwolffe's nose fell off her fursuit and it had the word "nose" written on the foam behind it. *giggles*

Why I don't plan to use any hot glue. ;p 'Tivo has a fair amount of it in his head, and none has ever come loose, but this time I plan to sew everything.

You've been asleep for how long? I've been talking about making this wolf suit since last November. Argos is the main character in the novel I started writing then, a white wolf with blue eyes.
