Other than that, the weather here has been delightful. Things are dry, and really could use a bit of rain, but the two weeks of no rain has dried the mosquitoes right up. I'm watering the garden diligently to prevent tomatoes from splitting and such like when it finally does rain.More zucchini today, and we had a salad of baby lettuces with some arugula and mustard greens that the bugs have failed to demolish so far.

Date: 2008-08-28 11:52 am (UTC)Now if you want to start an anti-cruelty campaign for veggies, you should have a look at the so-called "baby" carrots instead. Very popular over here, these are not true immature carrots, but rather large ones that are put through a machine that cuts them into pieces and grinds them down to give them the shape of small carrots. What a dumb idea.
