But the fire is so delightful.
And since we've no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

And snow is what it's doing. Normally we get snow when the temperature is above 20F, but not today. Good thing we don't have high winds too. The wind chill is bad enough, and the snow is coming fast enough to impair visibility. Because the ground is frozen hard, and temperatures for the last 24 hours have been in the teens or lower, the snow is accumulating without any melt at all.

Could be five inches or more, they say. Probably not, though. When they predict it, we don't usually get so much.

I was going to say I wish I was at home where the woodstove is, but it just dawned on me that we do have a fireplace here in the library. It's gas rather than wood, but it looks nice enough and does feel warm. I wonder if anyone turned it on today?

*goes to check*

Hope you don't get snowed in!

I have snow-envy. Any chance you could teleport some of it across to us here in .UK ??

Mmm. Snowed in. Actually, I wouldn't mind that since tomorrow is Wednesday. There's more snow expected on Thursday too.

Heh. Probably be easier to teleport you here. *looks at great circle route* Hmm, might get a bit chilly on the way though...

Can you teleport me there, too? I could use some heat, too. But only until 21st, then I need to go to my zebra in the UK. :)

Alas, I'm not really capable of teleporting even a carrot, or certainly I'd oblige. It's not very nice here right now, though. Snow continues to fall hard, and now they're saying it will not stop until after sunrise tomorrow, so we should end up with six or seven inches on the ground (and roads.) Since the temperatures have been low, it's powdery and blows around easily, so drifting over the roads is going to be a major issue.

Time was years ago when they would put up temporary "snow fences" to try to keep snow off the roads in areas of repeated trouble, but now that doesn't happen. They must have cut the procedure out to save pennies somewhere along the way.

*nuzzles* Oh, well. It's okay. I would have stayed indoors though. :)

It would be nice to have some snow here, too, we seem to be lacking some right now. Doesn't feel like winter right now.

*peers at the snow glad he's inside* I say what's that pretty white stuff there, it's cold but it's nice to look at.

Wish we had some down here. We've been having freakishly warm weather for the past week or so. Lows in the upper 50's, highs pushing 70 or more. Not that I'm complaining; I'm working on repairing the outside of my house for the next few more days. But I find myself missing the normally freezing weather we're supposed to be having.

You should go play in the snow. It gives you an excuse to eat to recover the lost energy.

Well, you probably don't often get the "Currier & Ives" effect that we do, and that's what justifies the snow for me. It muffles noise, covers up dirt, and is generally pretty for a while. It's also an excuse to slow down for a day or two.

Things are definitely white this morning. About 4 inches total but it seems to be over for the moment.
