It got up to 35F today. Not that I noticed much melt happening, but it sure felt pleasant. We put the sheep outside for the first time in what feels like a week. Tomorrow I should make Tess go out and stand in the snow for an hour or two, just to soak her hooves. She gets too dry in the winter from spending most days in an indoor pen.

I got to cook, play with dogs, and play with my old computers. The only real work was going for groceries and cleaning stalls, neither of which is that bad. I did not do laundry (which I hate), ironing (which I hate more), or weaving (which I enjoy.) But tomorrow's another day.

It's supposed to get up to 35 here tomorrow. With all the winds were having tonight, there is alot of drifting snow... Once it gets above freezing it should form a crust that will keep it from blowing around... of course until the next round of snow comes...

Hurry up Spring... get here soon!

I hate laundries, too.

Nice to hear the weather has changed to warmer for a bit. The animals probably enjoy some fresh air, I am sure. And Contessa will surely enjoy stretching her legs for a while.

Sounds like you had at least one nice, relaxing day after that terrible Friday at work. What kind of old computers are we talking about by the way? :)

Well, not all at once, OK? We'll be inundated here by the melt water. And it's still a bit early for the apple trees and stuff. They actually need their period of chilling. I'd settle for keeping the thermometer in double digits for a while.

Fortunately I don't have to go to a laundromat. It's just the interruption of changing loads and putting stuff away after.

Tess doesn't like anything about winter. She'll be eager to go outside until she realizes there's a foot of snow over everything and no grass to eat. Then she'll start pacing up and down along the fence calling for me to come get her. ;p

Old computers

This time it was the TRS-80 Model 100. I have two of them, and still use them for writing because they are extremely portable and sturdy, have nice keyboards, and a 20 hour battery life.

I had some new software to experiment with that makes it easier to move files back and forth between a Model 100 and another computer. Getting it installed was a bit trickier than it should have been, but it works and uses only about 800 bytes of RAM. (Memory is really precious in an 8-bit machine with only 32K of free RAM.)

Since I entered the computer world as a machine language programmer back in 1980, I have a real appreciation for tight, well-written code. XD
