Snow Mushrooms

I'd rather have the foot of snow, please.

So far, the temperature is holding just below freezing, which is fine. When these photos were taken, we had about four inches accumulated and it was still falling fast.

Very pretty picture. Stay warm, again.

Nice! I love a big storm with accumulation... as long as the power stays on and the house keeps warm. The dogs like romping in it as well. Maybe Wednesday we'll get something more than the couple of inches that fell over the weekend.

It just got serious here about an hour ago. Driving home from open mic, I'd guess it's falling at about an inch and hour — but I think some sleet is mixing in already. The NWS finally settled on an inch or two here before midnight, then a slow changeover to rain by morning.

I'm with you; I'd rather have a lot of snow than a mix and sloppy slush.

White flakes!

I do love snow. As long as I am not out in it.

The "snow mushrooms" look like something from a "Star Trek" set when viewed from a distance. The original one that is. :D

Heh. Or from Dr Who.

Still snowing at the moment, but the temperature is hovering just above freezing so it's going to get slushy. Then this afternoon the usual post-blizzard drop, down way below freezing with high winds. That part is bad to be out in.

I like going out while it's snowing, just as long as I'm on foot or horseback, and not driving. Driving is ghastly.

Mix is what we've got. Too heavy for the snowblower, the critical places must be shoveled by hand. Animals still need the usual care. Snowing again now, but the temperature is just above freezing == more slush. Then it will all freeze this afternoon. Down to 3°F tonight they say.

We did close the library for the day, but it's going to be hard labor instead.

I gather you got some of that snow already. Wet and heavy six inches or so here, with drifting in places.

For the moment, warm isn't the problem. Clearing the snow out of crucial spots before it slushes and then freezes is the issue. Actually makes you sweat.

its amazing how the land scape can change in a short time when it snows

By 5 a.m. the snow was mostly gone and there was drizzle. It's still in the 40s here, but it's supposed to get cold after 1 p.m. and then maybe snow a little more. The actual rainfall didn't measure up to what I thought would happen, which I'm glad for.

My friends in the U.P. are expecting up to two feet of it. :)

Normal for the UP I think. It's still snowing here, but not as hard. I think we got another half or three quarters in the last hour or two.

Yes, and I love the snow. I much prefer it to rain at this time of year, and certainly prefer it to the arctic temperatures that are probably going to follow it.

The birdies don't seem to mind. Though I expect them to do as Garrison Keillor described once, and come scratch "FEED THE BURDS" in the frost on the window panes.
