altivo: Horsie cupcakes (cupcake)

We went to Elgin this morning as planned for the 10 mi. race (not quite a half Marathon?) The weather held off until the race was just ending before starting with the thunder and lightning. Fortunately, our host had set out the brunch on a screened porch rather than in the yard as he has done in the past, and we had quite a nice time. The food was excellent and too much, also a tradition for this event.

After the rain passed through, things cooled off for a while but got steamy enough by mid-afternoon. Mosquitoes came out in droves.

I've been working indoors most of the rest of the day getting this woven piece moving. About eight inches of a planned eighteen are now complete.

Did home made pizza for dinner, accompanied by some of the leftover huge salad I made for the brunch. We'll be eating salad for several more days, but that's OK, we like it and I've been craving fresh greens for weeks. Yesterday we stopped at Joseph's Market in Crystal Lake, as I mentioned, and I brought home extra delights like fresh fennel, avocados, cilantro, and tricolor tortolini all of which ended up in that salad.

Gary is brushing dogs, but I think bedtime is in the offing as soon as he finishes. I've already turned off the light over the loom. You have to be attentive at all times when weaving two layers at once, as only one missed thread will stitch the layers together inseparably. Tired is not good for that.
