Yeah, small buzzing biting bugs are best avoided. There was one historic site I visited whilst caching in Australia over New Year with no obvious remaining evidence (apart from the bush path to the site), and a fair selection of biting bugs. It was interesting if only because of the way the bush had reclaimed the site, and the cache was an easy find.
