To Nano, or not to Nano

That is the question. Do I need yet another novel manuscript to procrastinate polishing? Probably not. But it's also hard to think of missing out on the fun. Well, I have until Tuesday to decide.

Monday is "story hour" day at work, but I didn't think to offer to appear as Argos the Werewolf or anything, so I probably won't bother with costuming. Or maybe I should take just the head and slip it on without warning... Hmmm.

No frost last night, though we seem to have gotten close. Should be close again tonight. This time we have the woodstove going. Nothing like the storms out east, though. Certainly no snow in the immediate forecast for us.

We went this morning to the Illinois Wool and Fiber Mill over outside Belvidere because they were having an open house and Gary wanted to see the equipment. He took some photos, so if anything interesting was among them I may post tomorrow.

Duck is still laying an egg a day. Number 23 arrived this morning. I'm guessing that she will clutch any time now and may not start again until spring. Certainly the days are getting significantly shorter, and that should shut her down.

Cat is sleeping against the dog's belly for warmth. So far he hasn't objected. We'll see how long that lasts.

Lost? I rather doubt that. I have plenty to do. I doubt anyone would miss me.

I almost skipped last year, but jumped in at the last minute because I had an idea for it.

You could do as Ursula Vernon is doing. She's declared November to be NaNoFiMo — "Fi" meaning "Finishing."

I went through my "Should I or shouldn't I" moments in September, going as far as noodling out something relatively far-reaching in my head, but then deciding I would be too busy working out and keeping up with my day job. If I was already writing more than I am, which is seldom, it would've been an easier thing to say yes.

It seems to me that NaNoFiMo should come in a less tumultuous month, one in which it is easy to stay indoors by the fire. Like January or February maybe.

November has worked well for me to develop new ideas, and in fact I have several ideas on file waiting to be developed. I don't think any of them are novel length, though. Must give this more thought.

The idea I had was actually two or three ideas I had always considered separately, but focused on the same type of character who could easily have been one. Maybe you have something like that in your files?

NaNoEdMo is March, I think... which seems an awful lot like November (since the weather is changing and more needs to be done outside).

Me and Quetico will make a blog entry a day for November. Nothing of course like writing a novel.
If you got something ready to go, do it. If not, there is always next year. I wouldn't force myself, your heart has to be in it.

Yeah, March isn't a lot better than November. January or February would be ideal.

Well, you know what's coming now. My working title for the moment is "Rolling Stock" which may turn out to be a double or triple entendre.
