Ponies by Animal Alley But there's never too many plushies. Discussion of my so far fruitless search for a new large wuffie inspired me to have what Gary called "a round-up" this morning. I pulled various horses and ponies together from all over the house and sorted them out by maker so as to take photos. These are not all the equines by any means, but just representatives. I'll have to add some more photos later, including the ones that are currently on my desk and windowsill at work. Click the thumbnail to get the the set of seven photos I selected from those taken today.

Not as cold as yesterday, and only going down to 10F tonight, but that means probably more snow. Sure enough, that was the forecast at sunset, though I haven't looked out a window lately.

Spent much of the day printing, collating, and binding those little cookbooks. Things have been hectic, so we're running late getting the physical copies into the mail. They'll go out this week, though. About half of them are done now.

Not staying up any longer though. Work again tomorrow. (Eeww.)

From flickr: Yes, the wolf pup on the right is not a pony, but he is still adorably cute and cuddly.

Sweet little pup!

I have a black and white Douglas horse (given to one of the children since purchase) and a couple of the Ty beanies equines. I also have some non-plush horsies by Schleich. Still haven't inventoried, but rabbits and bears make up the majority of my critters.

OMG! I like the brown one! It would go great with my collection. In fact, it might be from the same company as one of my horses. It looks similar.

The brown one in the thumbnail here I call "Oreo." He's from Animal Alley, which is a Toys-R-Us exclusive brand. Wasn't very expensive as I recall, probably under $20 three or four years ago. About 24 inches long and kind of floppy. I had to fiddle with him to get him to sit up nicely for the photo, but he's very cuddly. I'd prefer that he be about twice as big, though. I have a black horse from Walgreen's that is that size, and I really like her. She was in the Valentine's Day junk there two years ago and cost $19.95. Great bargain, but she's never had any name other than "Pony." ;p

Yeah, I really wish Douglas would make some larger versions of their designs, but I suppose the market for $40-50 toys is smaller than for the $10-15 ones.

On the other hoof, though, all the retailers around here expect to sell those non-cuddly talking animated toys for that price range or higher. There did seem to be a lot of them left on the shelves after Christmas though. I'll take a traditional stuffed animal over those things any time, even at the same price.

Bunnies and bears are what I used to make myself. I'll have to dig up some of those photos for you. I only have a couple of examples left, all were sold or given away long ago.

Very nice herd you have there. I like the big one that obviously sits on the back of a sofa or something.

You mean the paint horse in the last image? He has been sitting on the back of the sofa with the extra pillows, yes, but only because he was pushed out of bed by a couple of larger ones I didn't photograph. One of them is black, and hard to get any contrast for a photo. The other is so large that he's a pain to drag around, but he appears as the central figure in this shot:

The flat pony has been draped on the back of a rocking chair lately. If the cats can reach him, they lick his fur, which will eventually wear it off. I have a couple of wolf puppets who have suffered that fate and look very scruffy now. I'm not sure why some plush attracts cats and some does not.

Maybe some fluff is impregnated with nip.

Those are awesome! I have an "animal magnetism" plushie too, though mine is the wolf. Lovely collection of horses (and the wolf pup!). The flat horse is a neat one. :o)

There are about that many more horses that I didn't photograph. Not enough wolves, I want more of those. Right now I have three wolves and a couple of huskies. There's a good llama sitting on my windowsill at work, though. ;p
