Rumors have it that they are now sitting on over 100,000 orders, the large majority being for the hybrid engine, which, BTW, precludes ordering all wheel drive or a heavy duty towing package, things that it is assumed nearly all pick-up buyers demand. Those packages are only available with the EcoBoost engine. Ford announced last week that it will "close" the 2022 model year for the Maverick in the next week or so, because the number of orders is about to exceed what they can produce. (Actually, they are having that difficulty with other models too, to the point that some buyers are being told their order for a 2021 model truck or crossover will be cancelled and they must re-order a 2022 version.)
