A 5-10 inch snow accumulation predicted for Sunday night. Isn't it nearly March?

One person with a vacation day at work, and another went home sick at lunchtime. I haven't worked such a long desk shift (without ever sitting down) in a couple of years. Ow. Yeah, I know, I'm spoiled.

That and not enough sleep last night are too much. I was going to paint or weave or something tonight, but I think whatever I try I'll fall asleep doing it. ;p

Hey, you've got our weather! Give it back.

No, wait...don't! You can keep it! :P

Spoiled you are ;o) I stand all day at the desk and have the blue roadmaps that accompany that. The first thing our director does when she wants to fill in at Circ is to plop into one of the chairs we seldom use.

If I keep the weather do you come with it? That might not be such a bad deal. ;3

Everyone else uses the chairs, but I find them uncomfortable, either too low or too high. And it seems like you never sit for more than 15 seconds before you're getting up again for something.

I'm continually amazed by the degree of helplessness. People don't know how to put a piece of paper on the copier and push the green button. They don't know the alphabet and therefore can't find things in alphabetical order. They forget their passwords, pins, library cards, etc. They want the latest book by Francine Dumbkopf. You know the one? It was on Oprah last week. No, I don't. Why don't you write it down next time?

I wish I could say that college students were better, but they weren't. In fact, the faculty were worse yet. There are days when I truly wonder how the human race survives at all.

*sigh* my youngest says "Can you pick up such-and-such from work?"

"Is it in? Did you go online and check the catalogue?"

"....no"

The nice thing, though, about the helplessness is that it is usually accompanied by grateful appreciation when things are found. I'll take the praise over griping any day... a left-handed job security feature ;o)

...like the lady yesterday who yelled at me because she lost a book but didn't think she should pay the listed price and wasn't able to find one online cheaper with which to replace it!

My gem yesterday was a woman who had moved out of town but managed to get her card renewed anyway with the new address on it. (Not supposed to happen, but it does sometimes.) She had a stack of bestsellers she wanted to check out and I had to tell her that her card was no longer valid.

"Oh, but I work for the public schools," she said. "We get a free card."

"No, that's only for teachers and only for classroom materials."

She knew she was pushing it. She snapped "OK" and walked away, leaving me holding her card and the books. Turned out she owes us $8 in overdue fines, so she still couldn't have borrowed anything without paying that. I doubt we'll ever collect the fine. Of course she could get a non-resident card but that costs money and most are utterly resistant to paying for it.

It it's any consolation, we sometimes get snow on Derby Day! And that's the first Saturday in May!

I think it's time for the local ground hog to be made redundant. He's been wrong year after year.

Mmmm, wuff cuddles are the best.

*pets you till you squeak*

It's actually 35F here right now but they've firmed up the "possible" snow into "Winter Storm Watch" and "Up to 10 inches accumulation" here in McHenry County.

Only because you deserve it? Besides, you were complaining that it was too hot.
