List ten things about yourself that you think would seem abnormal to a typical person in the society you live in. Here's my list:
- Reads books. A lot of books. None are school requirements or self help or how to get rich type books either.
- Does not watch television. At all. Has never seen Friends or Seinfeld or Letterman and doesn't understand references to such things.
- Is male but pays no attention to professional sports. Doesn't know a football from a basketball, can't associate a team with its proper city or league, and isn't embarrassed by this.
- Reads the Sunday comics religiously and throws the rest of the paper away.
- Is male but has no interest in: cars, beer, women, snowmobiles, hunting, fishing, boating, etc.
- Not only knits, but sews, weaves, quilts, crochets, and even spins his own yarns from raw wool.
- Regularly prepares multi course meals from scratch ingredients, including baking bread and pizza. Never eats fast food or frozen prepared convenience meals.
- Is a furry but doesn't engage in casual yiff. Participates in some intimate RP but only in the context of deeply established relationships that have been RPed out to that point.
- Is seriously attached to some of his plushies, sleeps with them, carries out conversations with them, and otherwise behaves in a non-adult manner.
- Almost never listens to music in the background while doing something else because he cannot listen to music except with his full attention. Does not listen to much mainstream popular music because he finds it generally lacks sufficient depth to engage him in this way.

Date: 2005-01-31 08:24 am (UTC)I'd just like to point this one out... Have you tried listening to moden music in the background? Maybe that's the whole reason you don't listen to music in the background or the reason you don't appreciate modern music. ;)
I'm the same way on all but 6, 7, and 10, and I'm trying to break away from 8 as well, but it's so hard to find someone...

Date: 2005-01-31 11:26 am (UTC)I find either the music distracts me from what I'm doing, or what I'm doing distracts me from the music, depending on which is more important to me at the time.
About the only exception is ambient, which is more a mood than music. I can listen to that and appreciate the mood without having to concentrate on listening to it.

Date: 2005-01-31 01:46 pm (UTC)Music that I want to listen to demands my attention. It generates imagery, captures my ears and distracts my eyes. Sometimes I even see the score rolling along. :)
