I will not quibble with this, not a bit, since there were no draft horses in the possible outcomes.

Not a bad result, in my opinion. Of course, I just flat out love longears.

And it said I'm a donkey, too. Yay!

Double yay. Or should that be hee-haw?

I think the ass family gets an undeserved bad rep just because they are generally a bit smarter than the average horse. So where Mr. Horsey says "You want me to do that? OK, sure, I guess so," Mr. Eeyore says "You want me to do WHAT? No way am I being so stupid."

I once heard of a donkey described as a horse with a self-defense mechanism.

That's not too bad for a one line definition. :)

As they say "You can ride a horse off a cliff, but not a donkey"

Longears want to put some thought into a new situation before taking it. That's part of what gives them that reputation for being stubborn. Sadly, their tendency to be extremely affectionate and loyal usually gets overlooked.

One of my favorite donkey encounters (not that there have been many, sadly)was at the Washington Int'l Horse Show years back. A local rescue group had a sort of petting zoo set up with some of the animals they'd rescued. Among them was a beautiful little chocolate brown miniature jennet. She had 4 or 5 nubian goats that followed her everywhere in the enclosure. Obviously a little nervous at the crowds and strange environment, the goats stayed all huddled in close on the tail of their donkey guardian.

Sounds about right. Our neighbor across the road has miniature donkeys (I always want to call them 'burros' but I'm not sure that is technically correct) and they are adorable creatures, if a bit noisy at times.

We thought of putting one in with our sheep as a sort of guardian, since both coyotes and stray dogs are frequent here. But our horse vet recommended against it. She feels that keeping horses and donkeys together or in adjacent enclosures often encourages parasite problems. In particular, she mentioned lung worms (something I don't remember much about.) Apparently donkeys are very resistant but are often carriers, while horses can get nasty infections.

The QH pic looks kind of Arab-ish to me. It might just be me being more used to the stockier type QH and not the more lightly built ones that seem to be a relatively recent trend for breeders.
