But I was as honest as possible. Biased test glommed from [livejournal.com profile] cats_haven:

GRITS
Congratulations! You scored 87!

Darlin', you are without a doubt a true southern bell or southern
gentlemen. You move to a simpler way of life. With more people like u
the south will rise again!

Congratulations! You scored 59!
Your in-between a southerner and a northerner. My suggestion is this: throw caution to the wind use a y’all now and again, eat some southern comfort food and get of that dang fence.

See? Eat the bananas but skip the pecans and doughnuts. You're being contaminated by your food intake. ;D

Poor Tivo .... you should get fixed up with a disabled placard for scoring that. ;p

City Southerner
Congratulations! You scored 62!

Sugar, you are southern but, poor thing, you have been exposed to too
many northern ways. You won’t be seen with the bars in stars parading
around on the back of ur truck. Still, you’re in very good southern
shape. You are respectful and kind and enjoy a simpler way of life now
and then. You enjoy home cookin’ too. All I can say is stay true to ur
southern ways and enjoy life

Yes, sadly, I did live in the south ... but I did escape! Still, it seems I'll be damaged for life ...

I am the only member of my immediate family who has never lived in a southern state. Florida (3) isn't real Dixie but it's south, Texas (1) is legit though, and then Virginia (1) and later Maryland (same 1) are the real thing. I have only lived in Michigan and Illinois and would never consider moving south of the Mason-Dixon line. ;p

Opening LJ is one of the first things I do after connecting to my MUs and IRC. So there I was, sleep in the eyes and blurred vision, and at the top of the list on my friends page was a meme, hidden behind a cut. And in my sleepy, blurred mind, WHAT did the link say?

"So I happen to like girls"

I need to get a coffee machine.

Didn't say anything was wrong with them. It just wasn't (repeating myself here, y'know) what I expected to see from you.

I think the reason you find me enigmatic is that you try to stereotype too much. :D

I'm not even sure what grits are, except that I don't like 'em! :)

Tsk. Your loss. Of course the epitome of Southern comfort food is the hush puppy, which wasn't even mentioned in that silly quiz. I thought it was so biased though that even Henry David Thoreau would have come out a Dixiecrat.

Still, I do like grits. I always have a box in my cupboard. But I'm a border stater: I eat 'em for breakfast, never at suppertime.

I like grits too. But as a breakfast food only.

If grits don't have any dairy products in them, maybe I should give them a try again. Some things I tried as a kid and hated I now love, like sauerkraut. Tastes change! I've always loved hush puppies, but lately have to limit my amount of fried foods. Ah well!

If grits don't have any dairy products in them

Well, they are frequently served with milk or cheese added but it isn't a necessity. Don't go for the "instant" grits that Quaker sells in little packets. Those are like library paste. You can get regular white hominy grits marketed by Quaker in a round cardboard container like oatmeal. Or the real southern brand, Dixie Lily, is probably available in your area, but that usually comes in a five pound sack. :)

Follow the preparation instructions (only takes a couple of minutes in the microwave) for a hot cereal at breakfast time. Good with milk and sugar, or whatever you substitute for milk if you're that intolerant. Fruit is nice too.

I do actually like the real southern method of preparing them as a side dish for dinner. That involves adding cheese, egg, and garlic or onion and baking the cooked grits in a casserole.

I like good hush puppies, but they're hard to get here. Used to have them in Florida when visiting, with breakfast and with any seafood dinner.

*giggle* I snagged another one Maw!!! I hope you enjoyed the other ones I had in my journal this time. They were far better than the all out cussing fit rant I would have put in their place because of the W word.

Just feel good that I scored City Southerner on mine. Could have been worse ya know. ;)

Either the south of Russia or you had a southerner for an English teacher. :)

Oh, my dear, just wait until I tell you what happened while I was in Sevastopol...
