Darlin', you are without a doubt a true southern bell or southern gentlemen. You move to a simpler way of life. With more people like u the south will rise again! |
My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender:

Sugar, you are southern but, poor thing, you have been exposed to too
many northern ways. You won’t be seen with the bars in stars parading
around on the back of ur truck. Still, you’re in very good southern
shape. You are respectful and kind and enjoy a simpler way of life now
and then. You enjoy home cookin’ too. All I can say is stay true to ur
southern ways and enjoy life
Yes, sadly, I did live in the south ... but I did escape! Still, it seems I'll be damaged for life ...

Date: 2005-04-14 05:19 am (UTC)Well, they are frequently served with milk or cheese added but it isn't a necessity. Don't go for the "instant" grits that Quaker sells in little packets. Those are like library paste. You can get regular white hominy grits marketed by Quaker in a round cardboard container like oatmeal. Or the real southern brand, Dixie Lily, is probably available in your area, but that usually comes in a five pound sack. :)
Follow the preparation instructions (only takes a couple of minutes in the microwave) for a hot cereal at breakfast time. Good with milk and sugar, or whatever you substitute for milk if you're that intolerant. Fruit is nice too.
I do actually like the real southern method of preparing them as a side dish for dinner. That involves adding cheese, egg, and garlic or onion and baking the cooked grits in a casserole.
I like good hush puppies, but they're hard to get here. Used to have them in Florida when visiting, with breakfast and with any seafood dinner.
