Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have fewer than ten interests, pick 'em all. If you have fewer than fifty interests, pick every fifth one. If you have over fifty, pick every tenth one. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.

I have 150 (all that LJ allows you to list, or there would be more.)

  • astrology - No, I'm not interested in arguing with anyone about this. No, I don't believe it will foretell events. Yes, I think some insight into personalities and emotions can be drawn from it, provided you study it in some depth and don't just read the silly newspaper column junk.

  • celtic - The culture, the literature, the language, the myths. Introduced to this through J.R.R. Tolkien's and Charles Williams' writings, I find it a dark yet beautiful mythos.

  • discworld - The works of Terry Pratchett, he of blinding wit and sharp-edged political satire. Either you like them or you don't, end of story.

  • fantasy - The literary genre that reveals the most of both the author's psyche and our own as we respond to it. Virtually all of my favorite books fall into this area to some degree.

  • greek - The classical language, culture, and literature. From Homer to Euripides, Sappho to Xenophon. A fascination that goes back to early childhood, when I first read of Jason and the Argonauts (in translation then, of course.)

  • inflatables - Intrigued by the amusing possibilities of RP on FurryMUCK and Tapestries, I have looked into this at some length. Discovered that they are a RL fascination for some, though in my case they don't do a lot for me in that context.

  • libraries - A lifelong occupation, a favorite place to spend hours, where there are books there is my heart.

  • moose - The only hooved mammal to make this selected list, but just one of many. All my favorite species have hooves, except for the canids.

  • otherkin - I'd rather talk about therianthropy, but the two are closely linked in my opinion anyway. Much disparaged by some, yet I think this is a valid label to describe a certain type of intellect and soul. It may not be exactly what it seems, but it is something real.

  • plushies - These are a real life interest as well as an RP one. I collect, design, play with, fantasize about, talk to, and sleep with them (cuddles, not sexual) and I'm old enough not to care what you think about it.

  • roleplay - Improv acting in text. Enchanting, challenging, inspiring at times. I like it [shrug.]

  • shamanism - Goes hand in hand with otherkin and furry in my opinion. Mystic animism, totemism, purely heathen. My choice. If you don't like it, tough.

  • terry pratchett - See discworld above.

  • unicornography - Tanamin's sporadically updated and often too hilarious web comic. See it here. They're hooved, horny, and whimsical.

  • writing - Had to hit a generic interest somewhere in this list. I do it. 'Nuff said.

Plushies - design?
Meep? You've designed plushies?

I just added "more plushies" to my interests list, and it turns out to be unique. I can't believe I'm the only one in all of LJ to pick that one. :-)

Yup. Back in 1988-89, when I was laid off from a system programming job because my employer (Time-Life) decided to relocate operations to the deep South to save money on wages and benefits, one of the things I did to occupy myself while collecting severance pay was design and sell hand-made plushies. I was a member of the now defunct American Teddy Bear Artists' Guild, and my creations have appeared in two books and a couple of articles in Teddy Bear and Friends magazine.

Here's a big-foot bunny.

And here's a teddy of the Celtic persuasion.

Cute! ^^

The name of the bunny pic caught my eye... translated from Finnish it's "waiting", or almost "longing" by the meaning. Coincidence? =)

Well actually it was from Greek and is a sort of pun. The bunny was named Hare Odotus (Herodotus, the Greek historian) and there is a companion teddy bear of the same size named Bearistotle.

I don't know any Finnish at all, though the history of the language intrigues me and so does the folklore. :)

Ah, that's the story behind the names... good choices too.

It's just kinda strange to see Finnish words popping up once in a while, sometimes in a bit amusing places too...

*Grin* Nice plushies.

...I'm almost afraid to my list.

I /used/ to list those. They included Spelunking and Urban Exploration
and Bicycling and Reading and Writing and Living In My Own World.

But then...I decided that since most of my interests involved
physical pursuits, putting them up on LJ where I sit and type
was kinda hypocritical since I wasn't doing them.

*tries to get back to them*
