Podcast aftermath
Oct. 19th, 2005 06:13 amOh my. I had serious doubts as to whether anyone would even care to listen to that podcast. And I was wrong. The reactions I've received have all been encouraging to say the least and I thank everyone who responded. The only criticisms have been useful ones, including especially some factual additions from
pink_parka_girl that I will discuss in the next 'cast.
I hadn't intended to say anything about it at work, but I was so buoyed by the positive comments that I did let it slip on Monday and as a result the whole thing was played (loudly) in the staff area of the library while people stood around and listened to it. My coworkers know that I am strongly interested in animals and animal literature, but this level of involvement was a new revelation to them. The reactions were positive, though, including echoes of the compliments on my radio voice (something I really never expected.)
There is no longer any doubt that the series will be continued. I have no lack of material, it's just a matter of finding the time for the research. The next 'cast is in the works even now, and will feature Jack London's Call of the Wild and White Fang as well as some of the messages I've received. Thanks, all of you, for the encouragement. :)

Date: 2005-10-19 04:43 am (UTC)Since August my workload has increased by a substantial amount. A long time staffer left, and though she was replaced the different skills of the new colleague means that we have shifted various tasks around. I am mostly relieved of public desk coverage except as a backup, which I certainly don't mind, but I have a lot of other little things to take care of that I didn't do before (except as a backup.) And then there's this pending Linux conversion, which requires me to do a lot of tech work. I want it to happen, so I'm glad to do those things, but I have to put them first and they take significant time.
