As promised a few days back, here are some photos of this year's foliage color. I think it has peaked for the year, after two hard frosts that left most of the garden a wreck. Only the turnip, beets, and lettuce are still going strong. Squash vines and tomatoes were reduced to a pile of limp rags.

Roadside View (27 Oct 2005)
This year's color is subtle, but after two hard frosts, quite strong. The oak in the foreground often turns plain brown, but not this time. |

Pasture Gate (27 Oct 2005)
Coming from the woodlot into the pasture. Pastel colors are this year's theme, it appears. |

Fence Corner (27 Oct 2005)
Well, not all pastels, maybe. Oaks, cherries, and hickories make a riot of color. |

Tess gets Wooly (27 Oct 2005)
My horse is getting ready for winter by growing lots of fuzzy coat. Wish I were as photogenic as she always seems to be. |
