More progress...
Nov. 5th, 2005 09:31 pmBusy day, the usual Saturday stuff. Groceries, grooming, chores. Farrier for three horses, after he cancelled out two weeks ago.
Tess gave us a start, suddenly throwing her head up so hard that the breakaway escape strap on her halter broke and she pulled away from us and ran out of the barn. She was easy to round up back into the boys' barn, and I had a spare halter in the tack room so I went in and calmed her and got her back where she needed to be. John and I figured out that in fact he had set her off. She was being uncooperative, as she often is on just that particular foot, and he elbowed her in the ribs. He had forgotten about her quirk with that off fore, and the sharp jab set off the reaction. She was fine then while he finished. The two boys are no problem for him, since we originally bought them from him and they know him.
Evening chores, dinner, and finally a chance to write. I'm up over 8000 words now, need to break 10000 tomorrow to stay on schedule.
New excerpt is posted here, for those who are following. This needs a little clarification, since you aren't seeing everything. This segment is a flashback. The young colt Kratos is in fact Menander, and soon we will see how and why his name was changed.
