I seem to have reached the point where the characters are telling me what to write. Always happens once you get far enough along. ;P

Just wait till they tell you to write something you didn't want to write. Or when two of them tell you different things. ;-)

Reminds me of a song that the folk duo Mustard's Retreat does a song called "Railroad Bill" where the lead character openly defies his songwriter by refusing to climb a tree after a kitty and ends up thermonuclearly destroyed, which given that it's a folk song is kind of unusual. (Don't think they wrote it, but I don't know who did.)

Been there. Sometimes you have to exert your dominance over them. After all, you dreamed them up, and you can always threaten to just wake up and let them go poof. ;p

Doing something partially based on historic events like this does impose certain restrictions. I would have preferred that Julius Caesar invade Egypt first and then Gaul, but that's not the way he did it. Oh well.

Oh, been there. Usually it's the sadder parts of a story that they force you to write. 'cept for the one time when someone insisted on having a more ... intimate scene typed out. But I tricked them, I did, and went back to change it when no one was paying attention.
