altivo: My mare Contessa (nosy tess)

For those who have been following the drama, my car is now retrieved from the shop and has good brakes and 4 wheel drive. Considering the amount of work they did, the price was extremely reasonable, too. I think the Ford dealer actually is quite eager to have my repeat business, even though I don't own a Ford, which surprises me a bit.

Still putting finishing touches on the fursuit, but it's wearable now.

Also trying to write like mad to stay caught up on NaNoWriMo. Sorry, no updates just yet. (And the con is having its own writing contest, a Bulwer-Lytton takeoff apparently. How can I resist?)

If anyone is interested, I expect to arrive at the Hyatt around 10 am tomorrow (Friday), hoping to see old friends and meet some new ones that I only know from online up to now.

Oh, and one good thing that came from the car problem: I got today off work too, so I don't go back until Tuesday, don't have to work late on Wednesday because we close early for Thanksgiving, and then there's another 4 day weekend starting Thursday. About time. Yay.

He wants your repeat business because when your Cherokee gives up the ghost, you'll be standing in HIS shop when he tells you that you don't have a car anymore, and wouldn't you like to look at getting a new one?

Oh sure, some of that. But the service department appears to be managed almost independently of the sales room in most American dealerships. This is the shop that has taken care of Gary's car for the last seven years, and he has been very pleased with them. I can see why. Unlike several I've dealt with, they are communicative. They tell you what they are doing, why it needs doing, and what it will cost. And when they tell you a cost, they stick by it. In this case, he found more wrong with the brakes than he first thought, and did not charge me for the extra labor needed. All I paid was the parts.

I also had a separate, non-critical problem I asked him to check out. He found the cause, but couldn't get the part fast enough to do the repair before the weekend. In order to diagnose it, he had to remove a bunch of cowling. He put that all back so I could use the car this weekend, and did not charge me for the time. Part is ordered, they will make the repair next week. He also offered to drive 30 miles round trip to come get me if I had no way to get there to pick up the car. No charge for that, even though the fuel cost of the trip alone, not to mention the time, is not inconsequential these days. (He didn't have to do it, Gary was still here and able to take me there.)

You're right, I'd seriously consider buying a Ford as long as this guy is still the service manager there. I hope they know what a treasure they really have.

It was a dark and stormy con.

(Well, I hope not. I'm just being Bulwer-Lyttonesque.)

Congrats on all the time off. If I didn't have next week off for vacation already, I'd be envious. ;-)

A screen door slammed. The upstairs maid screamed. Suddenly, a pirate ship appeared on the horizon. And meanwhile, back in Kansas, a small foal was growing up.

I dunno. Dare I do a Bulwer-Lytton contest and risk polluting Menander of Alexandria? Aw, why not?

You could do a Bulwer-Lyttonesque chapter of Menander just for fun. That way you could make it do double duty. (Or maybe not. Wonder what NaNoWriMo rules would say about that.....)
