December's here:
So fast the year
Has fallen from the wall
Like leaves. Like snow
The days will go:
An ending to it all.

So lift your cup
And drink it up.
We'll celebrate the season.
Good friends, good cheer,
Throughout the year:
Love and peace and reason.

Whatever you celebrate, whether you celebrate or not, the best to all my friends for the holiday season and an even better new year in 2006.

Narf! That was quite lovely :) Thank you! Is it yours?

Mrfle.... gives me the urge to write more poetry - though none is coming to mind at the moment.

Well, it's really just caterel. (I won't insult canines with my bad poetry.)

I woke up this morning with the first three lines in my ear and had to finish it. Whether it came from somewhere once (like a bad Hallmark card?) or not I can't say.

But it's the thought that counts, I guess. And I do mean warm wishes to all my LJ friends. (Truly warm for those of us who are looking out the window at snow. In your case or the other West or Gulf coasters, maybe just cuddle and snuggle warm.)

Your poetry isn't bad if that's any example! I wouldn't have offered you such praise if I didn't really like it. Just because it's short and simple doesn't mean it isn't beautiful.

Believe me, I do know about waking up with - or suddenly being aware of - something in your head that you just have to get written down and/or finished. One of these days I'll post (or just tell you, as many of my friends have heard it) the story of Thirteen Children, a poem that came to me in a flash one day.

And warm wishes, literal and otherwise, are always enjoyed :)

Actually I had to fight the urge to put something Dorothy Parkerish at the end, like "Party poopers ain't so pleasin'" ;D

(Sorry about the anonymous one - I forgot I wasn't logged in!)

Heh... that would have been funny, but the overall effect wouldn't have been as good. Restraint certainly has its place (as do restraints!)

Light and laughter,
