Yeah, information is a threat to the nation. Probably explains the state of the education too... *winks*

Thanks for pointing out that comic by the way, looks interesting... ^^

It's especially funny for those of us who work in libraries. You can get it by RSS or here on LJ as [livejournal.com profile] overdue_comic.

We have a sign in the library that say something like "In the great war of information, librarians are the arms dealers selling ideas to both sides."

Yep. And in the public library, it often becomes a real war, too.

People who want books removed, hidden, or otherwise censored become extremely vehement and nasty about it.

What does that make the ones who create the books and databases for the libraries? EVIL-DOERS, I'm sure.

Since I flunked pop culture, I'm going to have to look that up to find out what it is.

Yes, the ones who create such NEFARIOUS books as And Tango Makes Three or The Chocolate War are considered to be subversives with an AGENDA to corrupt society and destroy the world as we know it, of course. They really love that word, "agenda".

The ones who want to CENSOR books have almost never actually read the book they object to. They know it is terrible and subversive because their minister or their neighbor or the host of some stupid talk show said it was.

Don't worry. One of the reasons most libraries have full
computer implementation now is that they are all much
eaiser to get into to see who is reading what.

No, you won't figure out how their doing it. If you
do...

*Mulder and Skully show up at a hoss stall*

Bah. The various agencies that make up Homeland Security have proven their utter incompetency at computer issues again and again.

And I control the network and machines in the library. I know what's on them and what they are doing.

I know you are, but I'm not. We take precautions daily to keep HS from getting information we don't want them to have.
