Midwest Furfest Day 3
Nov. 21st, 2004 08:34 pmWent back for more today. Originally I was uncertain, and when I got home last night I debated whether to go back at all, but I'm glad I did. Today's panels were Greymuzzle: You know you're different, Getting Published: Art & Writing (with Ursula Vernon and Watergazer), and Furry from the Inside Out.
After three hours of sitting in the same tiny room, I went back to the dealers to spend more than I should have (two Buckles anthologies for my partner who did not attend but who likes Buckles as much as I do, a collection of the first Faux Pas web comics by Margaret Carspecken, and a color print from Dark Natasha. I know, I said I have no more wall space, but nonetheless I browsed several artists' print binders on Saturday and this image haunted me. It is a three-quarter rear view of two bipedal horses, obviously shamans in the native American style. I will have it framed and find a place for it where I can look at it often. I'll look to see if she has it online somewhere and post a link to it if I find it.
The best thing came last. I did see the Sunday Puppet Show, which was enough fun to justify the cost of my entire con registration. I only wish I had been able to see the Variety Show and the previous day's puppet show, as there were obvious joke threads that carried forward from there. Even so, it was full of laughs and some very talented improv and adlib as well as professional quality puppeteering supported by some high quality amateur work. Thoroughly enjoyed and I thank Butterscotch Vixen and Crim for putting it all together so well.
Will I be back next year? For some reason, I feel reluctant to admit that I'm about to pay out my hard earned cash to be a sponsor for next year's MFF. Yes.
