Not too spoiled. I will spare you the details, but I scored 16+3+0+5=24. But I want to score 25 in a year or two. I am so looking for buying a horse for me and one for my mate as soon as we buy a house together. Will you please give your horses a few good withers "scritches" for me?

Thanks.

Sure. The farrier is coming this morning so I'll have plenty of opportunity.

Horses are not expensive to buy these days. The expense comes from having a place to keep them. ;p

I know that, that is why I have to wait for my mate and me to buy a property. I can buy really sound horses here for about $1000 CAD and if I ever need a veterinary (I know a lot about horse medicine and I also know a lot of people that can get me the drugs I need really cheap), it wouldn't cost me too much since I help many of them and they often offer me their free services. All I would have to pay is the food and the farrier.

I scored 19
I don't know though, because I think I was pretty spoiled as a child.

It's all relative, of course. These questions are mostly what American teenagers today would consider to be luxuries, I guess. Surround sound, DVD, TiVo, iPod hardly seem important or even interesting to me. I don't want a cell phone, or trips to Europe, or jewelry, or designer clothes. *shrug*

I agree with you there. It asks about DVDs but nothing about CDs and more important yet nothing about books. I have over 100 DVDs but that is nothing compare to the money I invested in music or in books. ;)

Heh. It wouldn't ask about CDs. American teens don't buy them any more. It's all downloaded from file sharing networks.

Hmmm. I got 34. At least I decided not to hire a maid. Mostly did well on section 3. Travelling a lot, living on an island in the Caribbean means I do well on the beach, travel, passport questions! Having dinner with the Prime Minister in the Bahamas (I worked with his wife) helped put me over the top, and, well OK once I did fly to Europe for dinner with friends, but it was on points and they were expiring!
And the original art. I think we all have original art. I did spoil myself by commissioning a painting of a wine drinking wolf!

Mine was 15+1+6+2=24 ... but I obviously counted some things differently than you. I think of conventions as weekend mini-vacations (also running to the beach or to Portland to visit my mom; maybe those shouldn't count?).

And who defines the "expensive" in expensive jewellry? I could go on and on (yes, I had swimming lessons -- through the Boys and Girls Club, which isn't exactly in the same category as going to a country club for private lessons with a riding instructor).

And yes, my 100s of DVDs count but not my 100s of CDs or 1000s of books?

Shouldn't I get some points back for the fact that in the last few years I've bought my mom a new TV, a DVD player, and most of her DVD collection?

My favorite bit was your question about fights, though. If Michael and I ever have one, I suppose we can discuss it then. :-)

Those questions are obviously aimed at teens, in many cases, so they come up sounding a little strange for us mature folks. ;p

I only go to one con a year, MFF. So I don't count it as "lots of minivacations" or whatever the wording was. Because of the farm animals, I rarely go away for more than a day.

Expensive jewelry is whatever you feel is expensive, I guess. That might be somewhat more (or less) than the average high schooler thinks it is. No swimming lessons at all here, other than from my mom. Books don't count because teenagers today would not consider books luxuries: they consider them just weird. Who would want books? Likewise CDs. I don't think they buy CDs any more, that's why the RIAA is so upset. They download "songs" off the internet, either paying for them or not, and put them into iPods. I said no to the iPod question, because I don't have an iPod. But I do have a small MP3/WMA player. I don't use it for music though, it's for audiobooks.

Yep, I know what you mean about fights. My mate (going on 24 years) and I have never had a serious enough fight to have to "make up" afterward. But before I met him I did have a partner of only about 18 months with whom I quarreled fairly often. He would always send me gifts at work the next day, like roses or plush animals. My boss took the delivery once and stood there to see what it was: two dozen roses. He asked what it was for, thinking probably it was a birthday or anniversary, and I said "Oh, Chuck and I had a fight last night." He laughed and said "Looks like you won."

I didn't count that because it was so long ago.

You come close to the high score among my friends and acquaintances. I think [livejournal.com profile] niko_winterset was just over 40. Supposedly this rates you as pretty spoiled, and in some ways, I'd have to agree that you are. But you have a way of still not taking for granted some things that even I do without thinking about it, even as you do assume other things as a sort of right that I've never had or only barely got to recently.
