Week's shopping done. Tess got to go out this afternoon for the first time in a week due to the windstorms a few days ago. She behaved well, which is excellent. (Sometimes when she hasn't been out for several days she gets demanding and rambunctious. No squirrely behavior today other than a few snorty moments.)

Big achievement: we cleaned out the kitchen cabinet that has the spices, cooking oils, and what little distilled liquor we keep in the house (mostly as a cooking ingredient.) I don't think it had been completely emptied out for ten years. Other than dust, it had some things that were so old they were no longer of much use as spices. Now cleaned, reorganized, and decluttered, it's very practical. Let's see how long that lasts.

Thanks to some good helpers, we got the spinners' portion of the gallery show taken down, sorted out by owner, and packed into the car in just 30 minutes. All over for another year, and no complaints here.

After tossing the political brochures that came in today's mail, there wasn't much left.

The golden retriever rescue people called Gary today and they want to do a home visit next Saturday. Guess I'll have to declutter some more. We did stop by the county shelter this morning to see who was there, but they only had five dogs. Two of them barked rather aggressively and had warning notes on their doors. Another was a very sad and quiet beagle. The one I liked best was a Rottweiler or Rottie mixture and she was all licks and wags and eager to make new friends. Unfortunately they had assessed her as "aggressive with other dogs" which would not do at all for us. We've been watching the "pet of the week" notice in the local paper for months and when it was a dog it was always the same one, a GSD mix with big erect ears that they called "Radar". We couldn't figure out why he hadn't been adopted and wondered what horrible trait he had. It turns out, none. He was adopted many weeks ago and they've just never bothered to update their ad copy.
