More weather
Apr. 16th, 2006 08:23 pmInvited friends for dinner on the spur of the moment, and they actually were able to come so it was good that we did so. We made a glazed ham (traditional after all), fresh asparagus with dill-lemon butter, sweet potatoes with apples and cinnamon, and a salad from the garden greens. Brownies for dessert.
Unfortunately, the weather was not nice. Yesterday it was sunny, warm, and springlike. Today we have a severe thunderstorm watch again, and real rains started around sunset. We do need the rain, but why does it have to come on a holiday? ;p
Advantage of having company over for dinner? We clean up a bit. Vacuumed. De-cluttered the music room, even unearthed the organ console so I can play again. Vacation starts for real tomorrow, still two weeks to go without having to be at work. Yay!
Edit: Rain amount to 1/2 inch, which is a nice amount. Much better a little at a time than all at once.

Date: 2006-04-17 07:13 am (UTC)Ok, fine, Chibiabos (not sure what that means).
I bet you know the real reasons for holidays like Christmas and Easter and stuff like Thanksgiving and Halloween. Excuses for partying. Watched a History Channel Discovery show on that and it was not particularly eye-opening just comfirming what I already knew. Excuses for partying.
Grin.

Date: 2006-04-17 07:08 am (UTC)Or should I have said hay.
I am excited about your upcoming visit next weekend. Very. And not just because I need all the help I can get with my fursuit. Well, STEED's fursuit. *Grin*
Tonka and Thunder are awesome. I can hardly wait to put you on top of the big boy and take some pictures. On the tractor, too, which is now running perfectly and almost done being painted.
Took the day off work today just to mow the back pasture and mess with cleaning the garage and stuff. Yea, Bear and I both want to clean the house a bit (wood stoves sure do make a black dust everywhere and our bathroom needs a good going over). Yea, couple of bachelors we need a cleaning lady.
IF you have a digital movie camera please bring it along. I really need to get Thunder and Tonka rearing and biting and grab-assing horseplay on video (what else would I call it in digital format?)
I know you will fall in love with Tonka, he is such a big puppy dog of a horse. Mister rubberlips but he is still a bit afraid of people having been past abused and all. Brushing and currying are manditory. I suppose I better rebuild the mounting stand so you can climb aboard with relative ease. (Thunder destroyed it last Fall)... little shit.
I want you to feel absolutely no pressure to have to do anything you don't want to do. True vacation and relaxation days are rare treats.
Suppose I should put away all my sex toys. *VBG*
So let's hope the weather is good and we might even have a BBQ on the grill, something I know Bear will enjoy. Of course he heads off to work Saturday and Sunday at five pm.
I miss your gentle good nature and we will NOT discuss politics, religion, societal ills or anything of that sort. Horses, dogs, quiet woods, sleepy relaxation are mandatory, however.
Your loyal, trusty, easy-going yet spirited (had to throw that in) mount, Imperator

Date: 2006-04-17 07:42 am (UTC)I don't have a digital movie camera, alas, though Gary has a setup in his PC for converting videotape to digital format. He hasn't used it much but I'll see if he has it figured out. If so, I'll bring our old DAT cassette video camera. It does a pretty good job. Then he can convert anything we manage to record when I get home.
It looks like I can't leave here until Friday mid-morning, so should get there mid-afternoon. If you are at work and Bear isn't around I'll just hang out until you show up. Maybe Tonka will let me try to draw him or something. I can stay until Monday morning if you don't throw me out sooner. I'll bring my fursuit and the book I used while working on it, and check on patterns you might use for a shirt.
You made me laugh about the sex toys. Even if you have them scattered all over I probably won't know what they are. ;p
Hooves crossed for good weather. BBQ sounds really good, and I like your woods and fields for walking and relaxing.
