First task today was to take Simon back to the vet to have his stitches out. He was fussy in the car but stood perfectly still and did not fuss at all while the stitches were removed. Healing well, no complications. No results from the lab yet though.

Drove to Rockford (25 miles each way) this afternoon to check the fabric stores there. Found something called "long curly poodle fur" in black that will serve my purpose temporarily. I can baste it in place for now and replace it with the real stuff ("black fox" from CR's) when that arrives. I didn't want to pose for the camera this weekend without my feathers. ;p

Finally got around this afternoon to figuring out how to copy analog media (tapes, vinyl) to MP3 files. My own sound card isn't that great, but my mate got a good one specifically for that purpose. Now I can rescue a bunch of favorite stuff from vinyl before our last working turntable croaks. (I hope.)

Gloom and threats of rain all day, kept sheep and Tess in the barn which didn't make them happy, but I didn't want to be 25 miles away and have a thunderstorm hit while they were outdoors.

I guess Tess and the sheep don't appreciate "But it's for your own good!" huh? (Tess and the Sheep, now there's a band name....)

Glad to hear the good news about Simon.

Teaching them to harmonize could be a job and a half, but they are indeed quite vocal. ;p

Threats of rain? Your weatherman must be a regular thug...

The rain itself did the threatening, not the weatherman. I didn't even listen to a forecast yesterday, but it's been the same for days: "Possibility of a scattered thunderstorm, partly sunny." Gray skies and occasional distant thunder tell you the same thing, and we had plenty of those.

This morning it's thick fog.

I can just see Tess and the Sheep fixing you with rather sour looks as if to say "We want to go out, we'll come back in if it rains" :)

Glad to hear the pooch has his stiches out, was he a good dog and didn't try to pick at them? Typical all pets cause a fuss when "you" try to do something but they're as nice as pie in the vets surgery :P

Hey, if you get a good handle on how to move analog to digital post it
up hoss. I've got a bit of vinyl and /lots/ of tape that needs to
be a'moved. I'd appreciate your insights.

Sorry for the slow response. Just got back from Three Rivers.

Essentially, you feed a line output from your analog player into the line in of your sound card, and use something like Audacity to read the ADC output of the sound card and store it as MP3 or OGG or whatever. Audacity is free open source software and has versions for both Linux and Windows.

There are various filters in the software for cleaning up and improving sound quality. Then you can use the sound editing capabilities of the recording software to snip up the individual tracks into separate files and label each with appropriate ID3 data.
