Vacation day 9: Rainy Tuesday...
Apr. 25th, 2006 08:23 am...with frost warnings? Wait a minute folks, it's almost May.
Last night left the barn doors open and fans on for the first time this year (fans have been on before, but not all doors wide open) because it was 76 F. and still/humid air at dusk, and I felt sweaty so I figured the horses would as well. Left several windows open in the house, and the heat pump turned off.
Woke up at 4 am (an hour earlier than usual, but after three days in another time zone that's not unusual) and got up to a chilly 36 F. temperature. Turned on the weather radio to get only silence and the station ID repeated again and again, evidently the control system for the area is messed up. Probably will get fixed after someone gets in to work this morning. Went to the NOAA web site, though, and sure enough, rain this morning, ending later, partly sunny, chilly, and frost warnings for tonight.
Still dripping cold rain outside, so I guess at least the morning will be dedicated to indoor activities. Get some weaving done maybe, and laundry. I could drive up to work and get my paycheck (last Friday was payday) but I don't need it right now, so why end up in a stew of questions and such. They haven't called me, so I think I just won't tempt them.

Date: 2006-04-26 09:40 am (UTC)For once the weather service was right. We had a hard frost last night. The low I recorded was 28 F. and it was only 29 when I went out to do chores. I'm glad I heeded the warning and covered the cold frames back up. Windows are shut and the heat is turned back on now. I hope it doesn't last, and hasn't damaged the apple and pear blossoms that were just ready to open.
